On the occasion of the global campaign “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence”, marked by 1700 participating organizations from over 100 countries worldwide, the University of Novi Sad organized in November 2021 a series of online workshops and student activities, as well as three lectures.
Within the activities of the University Centre for Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary Studies and Research (UCIMSI) – Gender Studies, the University hosted a lecture by Prof. Dr. Hilda Rømer Christensen from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, on 12th November 2021. During the lecture “Gender Smart Mobility and Diversity in Transport. Concepts, Methods, Practices“, Professor Christensen presented the topic of gender and diversity in smart transport and their application in the field of transport in urban metropolises throughout Europe.
Furthermore, an online lecture “Gender-based violence: concept, definitions, statistics and policies” was held by Dr. Zorana Antonijević from the OSCE Mission in Serbia, on 17th November 2021.
Finally, Assistant Professor Dr. Karolina Lendak-Kabok from the Faculty of Philosophy, who is also the Coordinator of the UCIMSI and Doctoral Academic Studies – Gender Studies at UNS, held an online lecture “Gender Aspect in Research”, on 19th November 2021.
The global campaign “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” traditionally starts on 25th November, commemorating the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and concludes on 10th December with the Human Rights Day. The campaign encompasses four important international days: the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25th November), World AIDS Day (1st December), International Day of Disabled Persons (3rd December), the Anniversary of Montréal massacre (6th December), and the Human Rights Day (10th December).
