SERIES OF WORKSHOP AND LECTURES AT UNS ON THE OCCASSION OF THE GLOBAL CAMPAIGN „16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM AGAINST GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE“

On the occasion of the global campaign “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence”, marked by 1700 participating organizations from over 100 countries worldwide, the University of Novi Sad organized in November 2021 a series of online workshops and student activities, as well as three lectures.

Within the activities of the University Centre for Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary Studies and Research (UCIMSI) – Gender Studies, the University hosted a lecture by Prof. Dr. Hilda Rømer Christensen from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, on 12^th November 2021. During the lecture “Gender Smart Mobility and Diversity in Transport. Concepts, Methods, Practices“, Professor Christensen presented the topic of gender and diversity in smart transport and their application in the field of transport in urban metropolises throughout Europe.

Furthermore, an online lecture “Gender-based violence: concept, definitions, statistics and policies” was held by Dr. Zorana Antonijević from the OSCE Mission in Serbia, on 17^th November 2021.

Finally, Assistant Professor Dr. Karolina Lendak-Kabok from the Faculty of Philosophy, who is also the Coordinator of the UCIMSI and Doctoral Academic Studies – Gender Studies at UNS, held an online lecture “Gender Aspect in Research”, on 19^th November 2021.

The global campaign “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” traditionally starts on 25^th November, commemorating the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and concludes on 10^th December with the Human Rights Day. The campaign encompasses four important international days: the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25^th November), World AIDS Day (1^st December), International Day of Disabled Persons (3^rd December), the Anniversary of Montréal massacre (6^th December), and the Human Rights Day (10^th December).
