Scientific field of research: Basic scientific disciplines in sport and physical education.
Dejan Madić, PhD is oriented towards the study and analysis of physical activity (physical exercise) and its influence on man (morphological characteristics, motor skills, cognitive abilities, conative characteristics, sociological characteristics and functional abilities), with particular emphasis on the development of children and youth, as well as improvement of the quality of life of adults and the elderly. The nature of this work focuses on the pedagogical process of transferring knowledge, highlighting these areas to the wider population of children, youth and professionals in sports and physical education.
Professional career at the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education of the University of Novi Sad:
Assistant Trainee (1991-1995); Assistant (1995-2000); Assistant Professor (2000-2005), Associate Professor (2006-2011); Full Professor (since 2011).
He teaches the following subjects at the doctoral study level at the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education: Physical exercise sciences and Kinanthropological analysis of sports activities; at the level of master graduate academic studies: Kinanthropological analysis of sports; at the level of undergraduate academic studies: Development gymnastics, School gymnastics, and Theory and methodology of sports gymnastics.

He is a member of the European Non-Governmental Sports Organization (ENGSO, Working Group for Child and Youth Sport, an organisation that is an official sports advisor in the Council of Europe), the Olympic Committee of Serbia (Programme Commission, the Olympic Values Committee), the Anthropological Society of Yugoslavia and Serbia, Society of Teachers of Physical Education of Novi Sad, Vojvodina and Serbia.
He was engaged as a consultant for education reform (segment for physical education) in the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, a member of the Working Group for drafting the Law on Sports of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the Coordinator for School Sports of the Commission for Development of Strategy for the Development of Sport in Vojvodina of the Secretariat for Sports and Youth of AP Vojvodina.
Dr Dejan Madić has led or been involved in the following scientific projects:

Professor Dejan Madić published more than 200 scientific articles in international and national journals and conference proceedings. He is a reviewer in the international journal Acta Peadiatrica, Journal of Rehabilitation Research & Development, International Journal Archive of sport and exercise disease and Journal of the Anthropological Society of Serbia.
He is the current member of the Basic Scientific Committee for Sociology, Psychology, Pedagogy and Philosophy at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development
Professional career in sports:
As an athlete, Dejan Madić was a member of the Yugoslav national team (SFRJ), champion of Yugoslavia, a winner of the Yugoslav Cup with GC “Vojvodina” of Novi Sad and a winner of two bronze medals at Balkan championships.
As a sports pedagogue and a trainer of female juniors and seniors, Dejan Madić won seven senior state champion titles, numerous junior, cadet and pioneer national champion titles, and a third place on the balance beam at the Balkan Championship as well. Furthermore, he participated with his gymnasts at the European Championships in Birmingham, 1996; Paris, 2000; Patras, 2002; Amsterdam, 2004; and at the World Championships Tianjin, 1999, and Los Angeles, 2003. He was awarded with the prize Jovan Mikić Spartak, the highest recognition in the field of sports in Vojvodina, the May Award of the Sport Association of Serbia in Novi Sad, the Plaque of the Gymnastics Federation of Yugoslavia for the best sports pedagogue and trainer of female juniors and seniors from 1995 to 2007 by the Gymnastics Association of Serbia.
Prof. Dr. Dejan Madić is married to Erika and he is a father of four boys.
