OUR GUEST: PROFESSOR HIROYA FUJISAKI

The eminent Professor Emeritus of the University of Tokio, Hiroya Fujisaki, held a lecture entitled Physiology, Physics and Mathematics in the Process of Fundamental Frequency Contour Generation at the amphitheatre of the Rectorate of the University of Novi Sad on 30th September 2016. 

 

The delivery of the lecture was organized by the Group for Acoustics and Speech Technologyof the CEVAS from the Faculty of Technical Sciences, under the auspices of the IEEE Serbia and Montenegro Section.

The lecture explains the physiology and physics of mechanisms and processes involved in F0 contour generation, and presents the mathematics of F0, stemming from combined activities of various laryngeal and extrinsic laryngeal muscles which are activated by linguistic, paralinguistic, and extralinguistic information. This formulation is commonly called the Fujisaki model (of tone, accent, and intonation).
