The University of Novi Sad has appeared on the Shanghai Ranking for the first time as one of the top 150 universities in the world in the field of Food Science and Technology, occupying the place between 101st and 150th. Furthermore, the University of Novi Sad has appeared for the first time among the top 500 universities in the world in Mathematics as well, ranking between 401st and 500th.
The ShanghaiRanking is one of the five most significant world university rankings, in addition to Times Higher Education (UK), QS World University Rankings (Quacquarelli Symonds, UK), CWTS Leiden Ranking (the Netherlands), and Webometrics (CSIC, Spain). The criteria which are taken into consideration for ranking universities on ShanghaiRanking are, inter alia, the number and quality of scientific papers, the number of papers co-authored with authors from foreign universities, as well as the number of Nobel Laureates and Fields Medallists.
As a reminder, the University of Novi Sad was ranked 721st on the Leiden Ranking in May 2017, moving 35 places up in comparison to last year.
Furthermore, the University of Novi Sad has appeared on the QS Rankings for the first time this year as one of the top 300 universities in the fields of agriculture and forestry, being ranked between the 251st and 300th place.
On the ЕЕCA University Rankings 2016 (Emerging Europe & Central Asia University Rankings) the University of Novi Sad is among top 130 universities in this part of the world, holding the place between 121st and 130th.
The fact that the University of Novi Sad is placed on significant world ranking lists indicates that considerable progress has been made both for the University’s academic community and the whole country.
