In the framework of the on-going cooperation between the University of Novi Sad and the Hebei University of Economics and Business, an official signing ceremony of the Agreement for Establishing the China-Serbia Research Institute between two universities was organized online September 30, 2020.
Thanks to modern technology and audio-video conferencing equipment, Prof. Dr. Dejan Jakšić, Rector of the University of Novi Sad and Mr. Liu Bing, President of the Hebei University of Economics and Business signed the Agreement simultaneously, each from the location of their own institution. The signing ceremony at the University of Novi Sad was also attended by Prof. Dr. Dejan Madić, Vice-Rector for International Affairs.
The new Institute will function within the Hebei University of Economics and Business in cooperation with the University of Novi Sad, in order to consolidate long-term strategic partnership between the two institutions and also to foster future collaboration in different fields of mutual interest.
“Collaboration with Chinese universities on joint projects represents a significant development opportunity for our academic community. I am especially honored that this cooperation will be established in the field of economics and business, and that it will be based on actual needs of our economies”, said Rector Jakšić. He further underlined that the on-going cooperation between the two universities will be raised to a qualitatively new level by the establishment of China-Serbia Research Institute.
„We want to learn from our Chinese partners, but we also believe that we have the necessary competence and scholars with outstanding references in research, innovation, and collaboration with industry“, concluded Professor Jakšić.
The Agreement between the University of Novi Sad and the Hebei University of Economics and Business for Establishing the China-Serbia Research Institute confirms the joint commitment to strengthening research between China and Serbia. In more detail, it stipulates that the cooperation will be carried out in areas such as joint application for international research project funding; organization of bilateral visits for academic and research staff to facilitate collaborative research; establishment of joint research programs and collaboration programs; sharing research topics, purposes, operating methods and educational activities; organizing the international symposium; as well as jointly cultivating the students from the two universities, including student exchange.
