The inauguration ceremony of the new Honorary Doctor of the University of Novi Sad Prof. Dr. Miklos Kasler, Minister of Human Resources of Hungary and the former director of the Hungarian National Institute of Oncology, was held at the Central University Bulding, on June 28th 2021. The event served as an opening ceremony for the official celebration of the University Day that was organized later the same day.
The Senate of the University of Novi Sad reached a decision to award an Honorary Doctorate Title to Professor Kasler, on the session held on May 27th 2021, following the proposition by the Faculty of Medicine Novi Sad.
In accordance with the long-standing international academic tradition, the University of Novi Sad awards an honorary doctorate to a prominent scientific, cultural and other public figure from the country and abroad who has significantly contributed to the advancement of higher education, science, technology, culture or art. The honorary doctorate is awarded for outstanding contribution in teaching, scientific, research and artistic work, as well as for the affirmation and promotion of the University and its units.
The inaugural ceremony included the addresses by the University Rector Prof. Dr. Dejan Jakšić and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Snežana Brkić, followed by the inaugural speech and lecture given by Professor Miklos Kasler.
The event was attended by Mr. Istvan Pastor, President of the Assembly of AP Vojvodina, Gabor Palinkas, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Hungary, Prof. Dr. Ferenc Vicko, State Secretary at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia, the vice-rectors of the University of Novi Sad Prof. Dr. Sanja Podunavac-Kuzmanović and Prof. Dr. Vladislav Zekić, deans and vice-deans of the University faculties, as well as the members of the delegation of the Ministry of Human Resources of Hungary.
