On the occasion of the celebration of the University of Novi Sad Day on June 28 2016, the official ceremony was held at the University of Novi Sad in honor of internationally distinguished professor of law Christian von Bar. Professor Christian von Bar was promoted as Doctor Iuris Honoris Causa of the University of Novi Sad, following the unanimous decision of the University Senate to award this honorary title to Professor von Bar.
During the conferral ceremony, Professor Christian von Bar gave a speech titled “Towards a new Jus Commune Europaeum”.
Professor Christian von Bar is a full professor at the University of Osnabrück (Germany) and the Founder and Director of the European Legal Studies Institute. He is the author of around 360 books, articles and reviews and for decades he has had a leading role in developing European private law.
